Below is a transcribed excerpt from one of Conan O’Brien’s podcast episode featuring Abbi Jacobson, 1/2 of Broad City. Near the end of their insightful conversation, Conan wrapped up the essence of the episode with this heartwarming conclusion:
“People find their people. That is one of the truest things I’ve discovered about life is that you spend the early part of it—if you’re like us—and there’s a lot of us out there. There’s a lot of people listening right now: young people who feel they don’t fit in. They don’t quite know what their role is. They think they have something to offer, but they have no idea what it is. I do think that a lot of the early part of your life—and no one illustrates this better than you, Abbi—is having the faith to go out there and you will find your people. And you did. And you found all these people. And you’ll keep finding more of them, but that’s—I don’t know—that’s sort of the magic of this. It really is one of those pictures where someone heads out on a road—you know—Dorothy just keeps meeting all these people along the way, and then you can’t imagine her without them. And I—I don’t know—I think that’s—that’s quite profound. Uhm, I’m glad you found your people and then—because you found your people—we found you, which is really nice.”
Take whatever you need to take from it, and hopefully it will inspire you to continue in your own journey. After all, we’re all wanderers seeking for a place to call home, and a tribe to call family.
