Best Albums of 2018

Image
2018 has been one roller-coaster of a ride. And I am grateful to discover new music (and artists) which helped made this year a more memorable one for me. Here are my top albums of 2018: 1. Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves UMG Nashville Where do I even begin? This album is perfection and I couldn’t be thankful enough to Kacey (my country queen) for giving us the album of the year. It’s a listening experience you’ll enjoy from start to finish. 2. Voicenotes by Charlie Puth Atlantic Records After releasing his underwhelming debut album “Nine Track Mind” I never expected much from Charlie Puth. But his second studio album stopped me in my tracks. Voicenotes is Charlie Puth’s best work yet and it has a lot of standout tracks you’ll surely groove in to. 3. Primal Heart by Kimbra Warner Bros Golden Echo was good but it was all over the place. In Primal Heart, Kimbra’s voice is the main focus and that’s really all that matters to me. Her voice shines here as

Thank you Claire Wineland!

Image
Claire Wineland; Photograph by Larissa Perroux I discovered Claire Wineland on Youtube. One time I’ve stumbled upon a video of her talking about her disease and how her family expected her to not live long enough. From that day on I became interested about her condition - Cystic Fibrosis and how she has been battling with the disease since birth. On August 26, 2018 Claire died from a massive stroke a week after her lung transplant. I was saddened by her passing but man what a life she lived! So inspiring and impactful! I am one of the many people who was fortunate enough to know her through her videos and her journey. She has inspired me with her wisdom and her life. One thing I learned from her was this, that no matter how you may prepare yourself to be at peace with your death there will always be fear because our body is built and designed to survive. Even the most basic unit of life – our cell is constantly sustaining itself. It resonated with me because

The Best Way To Protect Your Heart

Image
kenyahodge3778.blogspot.com “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” -  Proverbs 4:23 Don’t you know that in the Bible, there are more than 500 verses about prayer and about 2350 plus verses about how to handle money and possessions? (I read this one on the internet.) Why? Because God knows the possible effects money and possessions have on people. And you know what? Through our giving we are protecting our heart from so many things especially those that separate us from God and His plan. Ways on how we protect our heart through giving: 1. When we give, we are reminded that everything we have and everything we are is from God.          Everything we have including our life is from God. 2. Giving protects our heart from being prideful. Maybe we think that everything we own, specifically our income, is because of our own hardwork and strength.  Giving makes us humble and grateful for everything that we have received

Why Growth is Important

Image
http://7-themes.com/6956040-growing-plant.html Change is overrated. Everyone keeps on talking about it. Books have been written about its importance. Articles and blogs are everywhere constantly reminding us that one can never stay in one place (literally and metaphorically.) That for us to grow we need to change. But then there is the comfort zone – everyone’s favorite corner. The comfort zone is a very safe place. Free from inconveniences, challenges, and discomfort. You can just bask in its comfort and convenience but one cannot stay for too long. Not when personal growth and self-actualization is at stake. The comfort zone can be anything to anyone. For me it is my current company. I enjoy staying in my comfort zone much because of its familiarity. My mind is at ease knowing that I’ll be doing the same thing, with the same people and dynamics day in and day out. I mean, I got so much in my mind lately and looking for a new job is something I don’t want

7 Reasons to watch NBC's Making It

Image
NBC I’ve been obsessing over a new show I discovered weeks ago. It’s called Making It. And it is amazing! On its first season there were 8 contestants, NBC What is Making It? Aside from being a fun and exciting new show, Making It is an American reality competition series which brings craftspeople with expertise in different fields to compete in being named as the “Master Maker.” Each week there will be two projects namely the Faster Craf t and the Master Craft . NBC Faster Craft, as the name suggests is a quick challenge wherein makers will be given three hours to create something based on their challenge. More time will be given to makers for the Master Craft. Winners of each challenge will earn a patch. And each week someone is sent home after the week’s Master Craft challenge. In the end the Master Maker will win $100,000. The show's amazing hosts: Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman, NBC I love everything about this show! From its hilarious a

The SIN analogy

Just recently there has been a rat infestation in our place. We would be hearing scrambling noises outside of our room in the middle of the night. The trash bin outside will be knocked down with the its contents scattered. Also, the food that we forgot to secure in our supplies storage will be ripped into pieces by these savage and hungry rodents. This has been going on for weeks until I found out one morning that one of the resident rodents managed to puncture a noticeable hole on one of my beloved tee shirt which was gifted to me by a close friend. I had to add this part: I used that tee shirt to wrap the food I was trying to hide and put it inside my bag which our RR ripped to get its target. "This has to end!", I thought to myself. The next day I bought a fly trap from Mercury Drug Store and set the trap inside our room and outside. I sprinkled a handsome amount of cheese puffs onto the traps to eventually lure in the perpetrators.  What I found and lea

Situations that will make you go "Pusit ka lang, pugita ako!"

Image
Distracted Boyfriend meme, taken by Antonion Guillem I watched Miss Granny over the weekend with my siblings and got so many takeaways from the movie. It's heartwarming and makes us miss our grandparents (dead or alive). But what really caught my attention was the "Pusit ka lang, pugita ako!" line.  I don't know it if was improvised because it seemed like a weird comparison and analogy altogether. But it was genius and hilarious!  I was waiting for other lol one-liners all throughout the movie that would knock my socks off. There were many but nothing beats the pusit-pugita line. I became obsessed with the idea where people might use the line in certain situations. And so I came up with scenarios where the line might be used.  This is only for pure fun! Here is a list of situations that will make you go "Pusit ka lang pugita ko!" Hope you enjoy! 1. Yung may bago kayong kasamahan sa work na first day palang niya e sobrang

BLOCKED from your BPI Express Account? Here is the solution

Image
This happened when I was in Puerto Princesa (not that you need to know about that but it is important that you know where I was at that time). We were on a vacation with 4 of my college friends. While chilling in our room I logged in on my BPI Express Online account to check if a particular transaction happened (note that this was payday so you get the idea right?). I logged in using my old Sony Ericsson phone which was a hand-me-down from my sister. Yeah, it’s old. I filled in my username and password (which was incorrect). The page loaded my request. But because of – I don’t know – my phone or the internet connection I decided to click the login button more than once just to make sure I did what I was supposed to do. Unfortunately, the BPI online app received the transaction but my phone (or the internet) was so slow to even notify me with my failed login attempt. I remember clicking the login button one-to-many times out of annoyance. I need to chec
